BUMPER WAS THE FIRST RALLY MASTER DOG IN THE BREED!

I was so lucky to have him.

Bumper was what I called my "False Advertising" of the breed. He was such an easy dog. He loved rally obedience and agility. He was liked very much by the local sport dog people -- if other dogs tried to start trouble with him, he'd ignore it. If other dogs were scared of him, he would make himself small and try to invite them to interact. He was a Junior Showmanship dog for two young ladies. He travelled like a champ. We competed literally from coast to almost coast, north to south, and so many places inbetween. He was my ever present sidekick.

He had a stroke at the end of January 2019 and with significant work on both of our parts, he not only lived but regained pretty good mobility. We did some rally and very low level agility as a part of his recovery and maintenance. He was deaf, blind, and unable to smell on his right side but he still figured out heel position, as long as I wore my flip flops. We made it back into the ring to complete his Rally Master 3 title - the first in the breed.

I learned so much from him. Dogs are amazing. And every dog I train going forward will benefit from all that I learned from him, both before and after the stroke.

About Bumper

AKC Rally National Championship

Bumper qualified for the AKC Rally National Championship 5 times. He was the first Malamute to qualify and participate in the Championship class offered at the RNC.

2015 AMCA Regional and National Specialties in Sturbridge, MA Bumper earned 2 more RAE legs, taking High Combined Score at the Regional specialty. He earned 2 first placements, a second, and a third in Rally. He placed second in the Working Dog Class at the National Specialty

2016 AMCA Regional and National Specialties

Bumper earned RAE legs #9 and #10 to earn his Rally Advanced Excellent title. His scores qualified him for the AKC Rally Nationals in Perry, GA in 2017! His daughter Nellie finished her Rally Novice title at the Regional and SHE qualified for the AKC Rally National, too!

2018 Alaskan Malamute Club of America Regional and National Specialties in Orlando, FL Bumper did it big!
