Each harness is carefully constructed to ensure the best fit possible. Our harnesses have been tested several times to 4,000# without issue and are completely machine washable once you remove the spreader bar. Our oldest harnesses are over 20 years old and are as solid as the new harnesses.
Webbing comes in 2" or 1.5" widths. I personally use the 1.5" webbing and narrower breastplate harnesses as my sledding harnesses. If you want a harness that will work for both, please let me know and I will make the 2" wide breastplate rather than the usual 3". Narrower chested dogs and smaller dogs may do better with the 1.5" webbing and the narrower breastplate.
Padding is polar fleece.
Because some people ask:
We do not do the taped foam shoulder padding some makers prefer. We also do not make the harnesses long where it hits the back of the hocks or hits the ground. We do not have the ability to embroider.
Colors: We have an assortment of colors for webbing and padding. What works best is to pick a webbing color and a color family for padding and I can send a photo with options. We usually have Royal, Red, Green, Purple, and Navy webbing on hand as well as some less common colors. If you want a special color (we order from Strapworks.com ) we can get that but there may be an upcharge to cover the cost of more expensive webbing and shipping. Harnesses start at $75 + shipping if shipping is necessary.

The neck measure is most critical. Too small and your dog chokes when he puts his head down to pull, to large and it impedes his shoulder movement.
Set your dog in a show stack. Measure from the top of the breastbone up the side of the neck, through the hair as close to the skin as possible, to the place in front of the shoulders on the spine.
Repeat a couple times on both sides to verify that you’re getting the same number consistently and on both sides. This number will likely be between 12 and 15 inches— greater or less for very very large or small dogs.
My harnesses are designed to be fairly snug to the skin. You will have to pull the scruff and 'dewlap' through the harness so it fits very close to the skin. It may seem too tight at first but it is not.
"Average" for a standard sized male (25", 85#) for example is a 26" neck and 34-36" length.
Next measure will be from the top of the breast bone (point A above), down under the front leg (point B), and along the side to just behind the back legs (point C).
Like with the neck, repeat a few times on both sides to ensure consistency. On most dogs this measurement is 31-37 inches. Obviously if this measurement is too short the dog will be uncomfortable in the harness and it will not rest properly behind the dog. Too long, and the dog risks stepping through the back of the harness causing an injury or the bar smacks them on the hock joint—very uncomfortable.
Above is pretty well ideal rear fit. It should be long enough to comfortably put the tail through but not so long as to allow the dog to step out. It's not as tight as it looks, given the hair on the dog I can get almost a full hand in sideways. As you can see in the photos provided further down the page, when a load is attached, the bar will more than clear the back end of the dog.
(Approx 3" from the dog's body to the bar).
