Mom and I headed down to Florida to compete in the AKC National Championship, the Rally National Championship, AND the Agility Invitational.
Thursday was just conformation for Chrome where he took reserve winners dog.
Friday was a busy day, Copper had two rally runs in the rally championship and Nellie had her first run of the weekend over in agility for Time to Beat. Copper's first run garnered a score of 92. He earned the Top Scoring Malamute breed Medallion offered by AKC and AMCA. Nellie's picked up her first Time to Beat leg in agility and 4 points. With this being Invitational weekend, the best in the country were there. I'm told 4 points is pretty great.
Some words about the venue: it was a good venue but it's REALLY tough for those dogs who are not show dogs. The ANC/RNC/AGI are all in a giant hall. There are multiple rings going at once, it's pretty loud, and there are cameras, a fast pace, and given it's in conjunction with a dog show, there are bitches in season all around. It's a TOUGH venue. I am SO pleased with how Nellie handled it all as if it was nothing. Copper was bothered by the camera in the ring for his second run after being rattled by someone on a scooter and didn't do well but oh well.
Gracie was entered in the Rally championship but wasn't feeling well and sadly wasn't able to go along. She is fine now.
Saturday was the official start of the agility invitational. Nellie's first run was awesome. She ran clear! In her second run she had a 5 point deduction because the teeter looked funny to her but even so, at the end of the day we were ranked 24th overall based upon our score and speed!
Sunday was more chaotic. Agility and conformation were conflicting somewhat. I had to quick go walk my course, run back to help mom groom Chrome, go run Nellie in what they call Hybrid, change into show clothes, and then go show Chrome . He took reserve to the major. Nellie was a little slow as I mentioned above and had a couple time faults but again, a pretty great run. Ordinarily dogs who run in the preferred class get a few extra seconds but not in this event. Had it been in the normal preferred allowance, she would have been under course time and good. In the afternoon she had her 4th and final run. She ran clear again! She was so fast. I was very proud of her performance each time. She took home the Top Scoring Malamute breed Medallion for agility, just like Copper's.
