| "It takes a village...." Jacob's success has been a big team effort. He was sold as a puppy into a working home. Due to a change in circumstances, he was returned to his breeder, Donna Kolterman of Wind's Fury Alaskan Malamutes. We met him, saw his potential, and decided we would take him. We and Andrea Sautbine got him conditioned and ready for the dog shows. He finished his AKC Championship in a single weekend, going Best of Breed over Top 20 specials from the classes. That fall, Jen Effler-Leveille took him backpacking to help him earn his WPD title and both we and Mark Eckert worked with him to earn his WWPD title. Later on Nancy and Mark put his WWPDX title on him, too. Barb Salvadore met him and simply fell in love with him. Sheila Timbers-Hjermstad and Tim Muldoon came on as owners, too. Kate Salvadore and Jeri El Dissi were his handlers for his specials career--wow what a team! This started a whirlwind show career that included a couple Best In Show wins, some Specialty show wins, a Best of Breed win at Westminster, a Canadian Championship, and a little later, some Best Veteran wins. Kate put his WTD title on him recently, too. Thanks to Raissa Hinman for training him in Rally to complete his Rally Novice title at the age of 10! The team effort made his Versatile Alaskan Malamute honor possible. We apologize if we have missed anyone. He has been a wonderful producer for all of us as well, taking the title of Top Sire in 2008 and 2009 and winning the Stud Dog class at the 2010 AMCA National Specialty. He has stamped a look on his puppies and we are so pleased with how well he has produced. He is available at stud to approved bitches. |
